UoN’s Dr. Jacinta Maweu Presents Research at International 'Reimagining Identity' Conference in Jamaica

 Dr. Jacinta Maweu, a seasoned academic from the University of Nairobi’s Department of Philosophy, recently represented the institution on the global stage at the prestigious Reimagining Identity Conference. The event took place from February 3rd to 5th, 2026, at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, in Kingston, Jamaica.

During the conference, Dr. Maweu presented a compelling research paper that aligns with her extensive work in political philosophy, media, and societal dynamics.

About Dr. Jacinta Maweu
Dr. Maweu brings 19 years of research and teaching experience at the university level, blending her expertise in Philosophy and Media Studies. Her transdisciplinary research interests cover a wide array of critical contemporary issues, including:

Political mis/disinformation

Media, conflict, and peacebuilding

Ethics, human rights, and gender philosophy

Climate change and political economy

She is a Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (SYLLF) Fellow at the University of Nairobi, an Africa Peacebuilding and Development Dynamics (APDD) Fellow of the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), and currently serves as the President of the African Peace Research and Education Association (AFPREA). With over 40 publications in refereed journals and book volumes, Dr. Maweu continues to elevate the profile of African philosophical scholarship globally.
