Dr. Hassan Kinyua Omari, senior Lecturer at the University of Nairobi, Director of the Kenya Institute of Foreign Languages and Professional Studies (KIFLAPS), author, and a leader in the Muslim Professionals network, today paid a courtesy visit to the Directorate of Adult & Continuing Education under the State Department for Basic Education, Ministry of Education, where he met with Ms. Salome Terah, Deputy Director.
The meeting focused on expanding access to education through the Quality Test (QT) programme—the equivalent of the former KCPE qualification—which offers adults and out-of-school learners a valuable second chance to continue with their education. They also discussed the ongoing KCSE qualification pathway, noting that 2027 will mark the final administration of the current KCSE examination, making this a limited opportunity for those who have not yet attained the qualification.
As a beneficiary of the Adult and Continuing Education system himself, Dr. Hassan emphasized the life-changing impact of second-chance education. He encouraged Kenyans who do not possess KCPE/QT or KCSE qualifications to seize this opportunity while it is still available, stressing that education remains one of the most powerful tools for personal growth, career advancement, and national development.
To commemorate the meeting, Dr. Hassan presented Ms. Salome Terah with copies of two of his authored books: Kiswahili Hatua kwa Hatua and Chaplaincy, as a symbol of his commitment to promoting lifelong learning, literacy, leadership, and professional development.
