As an academic within the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the University of Nairobi, my focus is often on the profound threads that weave together human thought, diverse cultures, and shared values. The quest for understanding is never static; it requires continuous engagement with the world. Recently, I had the distinguished honor of participating in an event that seamlessly brought these themes into a powerful public contexta - dialogue with His Excellency the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Kenya.

February 26, 2026, will go down as a historic day for our department. During the annual University of Nairobi Staff Recognition & Performance Contracting Awards, the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies was officially honored with the prestigious Vice Chancellor’s Excellence Award as the Most Improved Teaching Department for the 2024/2025 Financial Year.

As an academic watching our economic landscapes evolve from my desk at the University of Nairobi, I often look at institutional frameworks through the lens of sustainability and inclusivity. Kenya’s cooperative movement is one of the strongest pillars of our national economy, yet its future growth relies heavily on how effectively we open doors for diverse leadership. That is why the upcoming Women & Cooperatives Summit 2026 stands out as a critical milestone for our socio-economic development.

As an educator at the University of Nairobi, I interact daily with young men and women stepping into the world of higher education. One glaring reality stands out every semester: academic brilliance alone is not enough to navigate the intense pressures of the modern world. True success requires a deeply anchored mindset.

As the threat of violent extremism continues to evolve, the strategies used to combat it must adapt. This week, policymakers, religious leaders, and security actors gathered at Ufungamano House for the National Interfaith PCVE Convention 2026. Under the theme, "Strengthening Interfaith Governance for a Resilient, Inclusive, and Gender-Responsive P/CVE in Kenya," the convention set out to redefine how communities and faith-based organizations protect themselves from radicalization.
