Breaking Barriers: Why Interfaith Dialogue is the Key to Effective Chaplaincy and National Cohesion

Recently, I had the profound privilege of addressing the Annual Chaplaincy Conference organized by the National Association of Christian Chaplains (NACC), hosted at St. Paul’s University. Standing before an audience of dedicated Christian spiritual leaders as a Muslim scholar from the University of Nairobi and the Chair of the Muslim Professionals League Africa (MUPLA) was a beautiful demonstration of what our nation needs most: genuine, respectful interfaith collaboration.

As an academic within the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the University of Nairobi, my focus is often on the profound threads that weave together human thought, diverse cultures, and shared values. The quest for understanding is never static; it requires continuous engagement with the world. Recently, I had the distinguished honor of participating in an event that seamlessly brought these themes into a powerful public contexta - dialogue with His Excellency the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Kenya.

HAPPINESS : A JOURNEY OF FAITH, PURPOSE AND PEACE.

On June 10th, 2025 at University of Nairobi Main Campus, Dr. Hassan Kinyua Omari, Senior Lecturer Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, delivered a special presentation at the University of Nairobi, unpacking the Islamic Perspective on Happiness, a concept rooted in Faith, Purpose, and the Holistic Well-being of the soul, mind, and society. 

RELIGIOUS LEGITIMACY AND MORAL LEADERSHIP IN A FAITH GOVERNED SOCIETY

On 31st May 2025, Dr. Hassan Kinyua Omari representing the University of Nairobi - Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, and the Muslim Professionals League Africa, he explored the spiritual and political dimensions of religious leadership as envisioned by Iman Khomeini and Ayatullah Khamenei. The event was hosted by the Cultural Centre for the Islamic Republic of Iran. 

 

The title of the presentation was "Religious Legitimacy and Moral Authority of Leadership in a faith Governed Society".
